Silas Birthday Interview

Much belated, here is Silas’ birthday interview (Petra refused to do one).

How old are you?

Six.

Is it exciting to be six?

Yes.

Does it feel different from being five?

No.

When you grow up, what do you want to be?

A Pokemon master.

What if you have to be a job that actually exists? What kind of actual real job would you like to have?

A detective.

Why a detective?

Because detectives are cool and they help solve mysteries and stuff.

That would be very cool. I bet you’d be a good detective, you’re very observant.

Could you tell me about some of your friends?

Noah, Eliza, Lillian, Elisabeth.

[Petra: But they’re my friends too!]

What do you like to do with Noah, Silas?

Play Pokemon.

[Petra: Get into mischief.]

Yes, Petra.

What about with Eliza?

With Eliza, Pokemon…

Eliza doesn’t like Pokemon. What do you actually like to do with Eliza?

Play “lonely travelers,” desert, detectives, secret spies, that kind of thing.

Oh, that’s cool.

[Petra: I do, too!]

Do you want to tell me anything about playing with Elisabeth and James and Lillian and Arthur?

Being silly and bunny rabbits, chicks, prairie hens.

You pretend to be bunny rabbits, chicks, and prairie hens?

Well, we pretend to be hunters and scary dogs hunting down prairie hens and things.

Can you tell me something that is special about our family?

The, um, love?

What is an exciting thing you’ve done this year?

Went to Marmie and Poppy’s house.

Did you go on any fun vacations this year?

Yes, lots of places with my grandparents.

What was the hardest thing you did when you were five?

Tried to make Petra not scream and fuss so that I could play with Daddy and not have to hear the fussing.

Could you tell me something interesting that you’ve learned about?

That Manetric is an electric Pokemon.

What is your favorite thing to do with Daddy?

Watch him play games and play with him a lot and play Tarzan, play Pokemon, that kind of thing.

What’s your favorite thing to do with me?

Play a whole, whole, whole lot.

What is the best thing about being a big brother?

Taking care of your little sister.

How do you take care of your little sister?

Hugging her, giving her kisses, playing with her, that kind of thing.

What is hard about being a big brother?

Being silly.

It’s hard to be silly?

No.

I don’t understand what you’re saying.

Sometimes it’s hard to take care of Petra.

What’s hard about it?

Well, like if she’s screaming and fussing and I’m trying to help her, she always like knocks me, she always says, “Hey, get away!” and then she slaps my head and then I just get away from her.

Is there anything that you are afraid of?

Bears, dragons, cyclones, tornadoes.

Is there anything that you hope will happen this year?

Going on great adventures and catching more Pokemon that I don’t know about right now.
