Tiny Paleontologist

This kid. I just can’t get over how grown up she is (and technically still a year too young for kindergarten, thanks to her birthday).

She’s awesome on the balance bike (but insists she’ll never ride a two-wheeler, despite having a super cute one with a basket and everything waiting for her).

She’s super focused in dance class and practices at home, a bit.

She’s an amazing kitten foster mama.

I was digging through some old journals, and I found these notes where JC and I wrote down our predictions for her. It’s so funny to think that there was a time, not that long ago, when this was all we could even imagine knowing about her. And now we can’t imagine our lives without her.

For the record, we were both right on her sex (although we didn’t know!), I was closest on her birthday, we were both way off on her weight, JC by a full pound, we were close on her height (actual was 19.5″). We were wrong in opposite directions on time of birth (actual 3:30 am). I was right on her eye color. JC was closest on length of labor (actual 2.5 hours).

And now she’s so big and self-assured and excited about what she knows. During a family reunion (thus the background noise), Petra decided to tell me all about how the dinosaurs met their demise (I didn’t get filming until after the part where she said, “I want to tell you a prominent theory of how the dinosaurs all died.”)

I am so excited to see who she is in another five years.
