Petra is supposed to be a flower girl next month, and I’m working on her outfit. Rather than make a muslin out of scrap fabric, I decided to make something I wouldn’t mind her wearing.
I based it on this tutorial, which is adorable. The pattern is pretty close to right. I’m going to flatten that curve in the center front a good bit, make the bodice a couple inches tighter, add some buttons.
The top will be lace over cotton, and the bottom will be just an ocean of fluuff instead of caterpillar. I might add some ribbon roses along the edge of that transition, we’ll see. I’m thinking it’s going to be pretty stinking cute.
Next up: figuring out what to do about the “flower boy” (he didn’t want to be a ring bearer, since that looks kind of boring). I’m thinking…aubergine (the wedding color is purple of all shades) short pants with suspenders and a white, short-sleeved button-down. Maybe a little newsie cap?
