Tracker

A few weeks ago, the river was at just the right level that the mud preserved tracks perfectly. We pointed out some tracks to Silas, and soon he was spotting them himself. He found the tracks of a raccoon, a rabbit, and two dogs.

Pretty sure that’s a raccoon track there. Also a dog track.

Today, on our walk, we were able to observe our own tracks in the snow. Silas made the connection between the triangle shapes in the heels of my rubber boots and their tracks. We found lots of duck tracks by the neighbors’ pond, tractor tracks, stroller tracks, and, finally and beautifully, the tracks of a small bird that had landed on a bench, taken one hop, and flown away.

Then we followed our own tracks home.
